Andrew Lau's latest announced
14 April 2005

Andrew Lau, the mastermind behind the Infernal Affairs films, is back. In a change of pace from the cops vs gangsters trilogy and the soon to be released Initial D, Lau has set himself up to direct Daisy.

Don't worry, he hasn't gone soft. He's already called in the talents of fight choreographer Dion Lam the man responsible for the ruckus in , Doom, Romeo Must Die and Infernal Affairs - so we're thinking more The Killer than 2046. Cinematographer Lay Yiu Fai is also on board, which should make for a fun time when they all get to the Netherlands. Yes, you read that correctly. The film is to be shot and set in the land of the clog, and shooting will commence mid May.

The plot concerns a detective and an assassin who fall in love with the same girl. Awww, shucks. But the setup is made all the more understandable when you consider that the dame is to be played by Korea's current 'it' girl Jeon Ji-hyun, seen recently in Windstruck. The assassin has been cast Jung Woo-sung will be the man with the deadly trigger finger, but no word yet on who is to play the cop (if indeed it is not a private eye). Word is that all of Korea and Hong Kong's A-list are under consideration. That narrows it down, then.

Daisy is the latest production from Hong Kong / South Korean production company iFilm, who also housed Windstruck (which cleaned up in Japan, grossing in excess of $19 million). The new film is slated for release towards the end of this year, which could put it quite close to Scorsese's Infernal Affairs remake, The Departed. Yummy.
